Our Craft

The craft behind every Parizad

Zardozi is a centuries-old metal-thread embroidery technique, traditionally worked in fine gold wire over silk and brocade. On Parizad, that base of zari work is layered by hand with sequins, beads and crystals, arranged into a precise geometric pattern across a taupe dupion base.

Geometric zardozi patterns require more careful, measured hand-placement than freeform florals, which is part of why the finished spacing can vary slightly from pair to pair -- each one measured and placed by an individual embroiderer rather than a machine.

Care

Keeping the embroidery in shape

•Store in the dust bag it arrives in, away from direct sunlight, when not in use.
•Keep away from water, perfume and oil-based products, which can mark the thread work.
•Wipe the base gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear.
•Avoid folding or creasing the toe when storing, to protect the embroidery.
