Our Craft

The craft behind every Sona

Sona ("gold") is hand-embroidered with sequins, beads and glass beads set into a jaal pattern at the front, with the same embellishments scattered more loosely across the back of a taupe dupion base.

Working a dense jaal at the front and a looser, scattered pattern at the back requires two different hand techniques in a single pair, adding to the time -- and the individuality -- of each one.

Care

Keeping the embroidery in shape

•Store in the dust bag it arrives in, away from direct sunlight, when not in use.
•Keep away from water, perfume and oil-based products, which can mark the thread work.
•Wipe the base gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear.
•Avoid folding or creasing the toe when storing, to protect the embroidery.
